Medical Services
Playas de Rosarito, B.C.'s 5th Municipality, was established as such on December 1, 1995. If you're a new visitor to our area, you will not notice the much improved infrastructure Rosarito has enjoyed due to the citizens voting NOT to be a part of Tijuana only a few short years ago. The locally collected taxes show in the streets, street cleaners, parks, the main boulevard and many other improvements. The medical service question is one of the most frequently received. The medical situation is improving by the day. Locally: The Red Cross Hospital and their bilingual staff can assist in most day to day needs. In an emergency, they have ambulances available and can co-ordinate with Ambulances in San Diego for transfer across the border. The Red Cross emergency number is 032 and is a free call from any phone, including Mexican cellular phones. There are many U.S. medical groups who have already pruchased the property for construction of major facilities in this area. These groups will be building according to U.S. standards so the U.S. insurance companies will honor care here for Americans. If you move here, you will find that there are many fine doctors in town such as the staff at Baja Medix for immediate treatment. Red Cross The Red Cross organization is extremely active in the Rosarito Beach area. It has over 600 members (99% Gringos!) who are very active in supporting the Red Cross Hospital and the ambulance services. The Red Cross offers a valuable service for the membership fee of $12.50 per person per year. If you should fall ill or have an accident, YOU WILL be transported to a Stateside hospital by ground or by air. Monies are raised in weekly bake sales, an Annual Fashion Show and Christmas Ball, Thrift Shop sales, etc. Donations of medicaiton, bedding, pampers, linens, etc., are always needed for the hospital. The Thrift Shop always needs kitchen items, toys, children's good clothing, bedding and coats
